Here's our 3 year old hermit crab Shiny enjoying Pucker & Bloat from the Cephalopodcast.
I've added an abundance of new bloggy-peeps to my blog lists since ScienceOnline'09. And the content is entirely appropriate for 3-year old hermit crabs! Educational and fun.
As you can see, Shiny is sporting his fah-bulous leopard print shell. Almost grown out if it, the big boy!

I've always thought it would be cool to have a pet hermit crab. They don't seem very friendly, though.
He's pretty friendly. Hardly ever pinches.
My wife took Shiny into a kindergarten class for a couple of months, and he was always out and active in front of the kids.
Maybe not as cuddly as a gaggle of geckos though. ;-)
I had a couple of Australian Strawberries as teaching pets. They had trouble with molting though. Unfortunately, every hermit crab offered for sale is wild caught. They do not reproduce in captivity (to my knowledge). Neat though and mine were not pinchy either.
BTW, Pucker and Bloat will be restored as quick as I can. Archives are a little wonky at the moment.
Shiny is a very cute hermit crab.
