Anniversary 6

Six years ago this evening, I married Michelle.(I drew this for our invitation, based on John Atkinson Grimshaw's Iris, my favourite painting, which we saw on our second date.)Victoria College, University of Toronto.

She is my favourite person.

Yeah, I got a little teary-eyed. As someone who is reconvinced every day that his significant other is absolutely central to his life, this really rings true for me.

I'm so happy for you. Both of you.

My best wishes.

Hey, thanks for checking it out, S.M.
You know it, Sean.
Thanks Traumador. Don't give up hope on Lillian.
Thanks Mike.
Thanks Peter.

The pumpkins on the cake were marzipan with a peppermint stem. Michelle made over a hundred of them. I painted the Sally figure on the cake so she had white and off-white patches on her dress.

The chapel had interesting stained glass. I believe the images were of Columbus, Ben Franklin, Kant, and Newton.

Michelle and I believe strongly in the right for gay couples to marry (totally legal here in Ontario) and so we had a Unitarian minister. We didn't want the evening to be something some of our friends were shut out from.

We found Michelle's cloak in a second-hand shop after tearfully taking a starving street kitten to the humane society.

My best advice to couples for the wedding: eat something. It's almost impossible, you'll be talking so much and you don't want to keel over from shock and an empty stomach.

Wow, happy anniversary, sir. I love that wedding picture! Explain one thing to me, though: it looks like the roses are emerging from a bouquet full of Tribbles.

Where did you get the Tribbles, sir? :-)

Glendon Mellow said...

Tribbles are indigenous to southern Ontario: I thought everyone knew that.

Actually though, we didn't use tribbles. Those are downy feathers off a theropod. We shot it and attached it to the hood of our honeymoon car.

I love the trilobyte! Great blog title. It's a fascinating creature.

And this particular entry is just too darn sweet. Very cool of you.

Thanks HeatherLynn!

Thanks Sci-Fi Fanatic! (I completely agree with your assessment of Firefly, btw. Best damn show ever on television.)

Thanks. I know. It's hard to believe that thing crashed and burned on television. Still, that little firefly's flame burned bright beyond its demise. All the best!
