Trilobite Boy Rocks Out
by Glendon Mellow
Oil on beechwood panel, 2010.
This original oil painting was commissioned by Karen Burke as a birthday present for Mike Haubrich of Quiche Moraine.

Featuring my trilobite-human hybrid character
Trilobite Boy putting on a killer show.  This was totally fun to do, and I took a departure from some of my usual techniques: a "making of" post will be up soon. I've submitted this painting to the Art Evolved Pop Culture gallery, launching later today.

Hope you had a great birthday Mike!

Never thought trilobites had horns to throw. That's awesome!

It is awesome, isn't it? I can't wait to see some of the "Making of."

Wow, that's different.

I would be very interested to see the "making of" for this.

What is the overall size of the canvas?

Thanks Jason!

Mike, it was a pleasure, and I was happily surprised when Karen contacted me about it months ago. I found myself waiting in suspense for your reaction.

Hey Rudi! The painting is about 12"x16". I'll try to get the whole making-of up over the next few days.

Kickass, Glendon! I dig it. I'll definitely be looking forward to the making of as well.

Thanks Irradiatus!

Thanks for the tip about the funny-looking rss in the other posts. It looks fine in Chrome, but you're right: Firefox looks messed up.

Posts over 14 days old have their comments held in moderation - I've been getting an unusual amount of spam for a guy who paints trilobites. I'll release it lickety-split though.
