Museum Robot Guard - wip

©  Glendon Mellow 2011

Say hello to Mr. G, the Museum Robot Guard.  Or at least his upper torso, it's a work-in-progress. Originally that thing in his chest didn't start out as an eye, but it's kind of gone that way.  Thinking about WWI biplanes when I painted this.

Working on the last panel of the next Trilobite Boy page in ArtRage 3.

Im interested in seeing how this character turns out visually and anatomically, looks quite interesting with the turbine in place of where the head normally is. Does this guy hover at all?

Thanks Marco!

Yeah he could probably fly with a running start. I see him as a robot qualified to do a lot more but in the wrong job.

I love your Canadian touch!! Ever heard of Robert J. Sawyer? I feel like you're setting yourself up to be the maven of Canadian science art in the same way he's the maven of Canadian science fiction. Really looking forward to seeing this one completed (and will there be more backstory?!)

:-) Keep arting.

Thanks ajebsary!

Yeah, I like some of Sawyer's books, I've read a handful. The other guard next to Mr. G will probably have a name badge that says "R.Singh" after Raghubir Singh, the ROM guard in Sawyer's excellent novel Calculating God. I thought that would be a bit of a fun nod.

And thanks deeply for the compliment. Hoping to finish this page soon.

Nice design! I'll take six, as soon as they start hitting production. Assuming, that is, they come fully armed and can be programmed for targeting via some language I know. I have lots of places that need guarding from stupid people.

Thanks Jason! I'll place your order. I think Elon Musk is planning on investing in these babies.

Posts over 14 days old have their comments held in moderation - I've been getting an unusual amount of spam for a guy who paints trilobites. I'll release it lickety-split though.
