CultureLab: Where books, arts and science collide, one of the blogs by New Scientist magazine has a feature about some guy who paint trilobites incorrectly - get this - with wings.

After my panel talk at the Centre for Inquiry a few weeks ago, science writer Dan Falk and I found a hallway and I answered some questions.

The article is titled: Trilobites: Glendon Mellow's Muse.

Thanks Dan!

I have been attempting to post a comment, Glendon, but I keep getting an error message. In case it never makes it, here is what I wrote:

"I have been a fan of Glendon's now for at least three years. I find his creative way of combining the facts and process of science and art are embedded with an understanding of the philosophy of science that ties it all together. Recently he painted a piece and ran a contest for his readers at the Flying Trilobite blog, inviting people to guess at the symbology and the meaning and several people joined in. He draws his viewers into a world of art and science and evolution with a unique visual "voice.""

Awesome! Thanks Mike. I always appreciate your support.

It's kind of funny you mention the Science Chess painting, since that was the third painting I showed at the panel talk Dan Falk was present for.

It looks like 2 of your comment attempts have now appeared. Hmm.

Apparently Dan cleaned it out.

Yeah, looks good.

And thanks so much again for all your support Mike.

Dan wrote a nice article: a good friend told me today he knows my art and why I do it, but he never understood it that way before reading the article.

Well, writing is not my strongest suit, I guess.

Great article, Glendon! And the redesign/tweak of the Flying Trilobite looks great and - dare I say it - professional!

I will similarly be going through a rethink on my blog, to give it more focus of Bond, the artist.

Thanks again for the inspiration, you truly are a talent my friend!

Wow, thanks, Peter!

Posts over 14 days old have their comments held in moderation - I've been getting an unusual amount of spam for a guy who paints trilobites. I'll release it lickety-split though.
