Artwork Mondays: Oviraptorosaur sketch

A sketch of the Royal Ontario Museum's lovely oviraptorosaur cast. Look at that eye!
It is a little rougher than two previous dinosaur skull drawings. The museum was closing, within 15 minutes of me starting this sketch.

If you like this sort of pencil-work, you can see a parasaurolophus and pachycephalasaurus I have done previously as well. I love the R.O.M., especially since the addition of the Crystal; it's one of the many reasons I am never bored living in the city of Toronto.

Very flash.

Here's one thing you won't find me trying to build 3D anytime soon! Skulls (without flesh especially!) are incredibly hard to build 3D.

I'd imagine so!

It was one of those moments in life when I simply had to record and draw to understand the intricacy of what I was looking at. Exciting.

Yes Glendon! I really need to do the same and go sketch at the ROM!

Is that Chirostenostes (caegnathid) or an oviraptorid? Or does it not say? I haven't been to the RTMNH in forever (I plan on going back in the next year two).

Wait, ROM. I meant ROM. And I've never been to the ROM. :-)

Jesse, anytime you want to sketch at the ROM, I'm up for it! Michelle and I have memberships.

Friday nights it's open a bit later.

Zach, I only noted "oviraptorosaurus". I'll double-check next time I'm there.

Tall lanky oviraptorid. Like the Olive Oyl of the dinosaur set.

"Ohhh, Popeye..."
