For a true logo, it still looks too busy and painterly. Fine detail will get lost at small reproduction sizes. Lose the text. Compare Laughing Squid's logo.
You are totally right Jason. the purpose I'm using a variation of this for might make more sense: it's actually for a custom iPad cover for my first ever iPad. 100% agree if it was for general logo design though: a good in black-and-white or colour, on hats, stationary and website logo, it ain't. Logo design isn't something I've spent time doing, and I really respect people who can do it well. Present company included. ;-)
