Science-Art Scumble #3

Scumble:
"A painting technique in which semi-opaque or thin opaque colors are loosely brushed over an underpainted area so that patches of the color beneath show through."
From The Artist's Handbook, by Ray Smith.

A weekly digest to highlight some of the posts I found most interesting, most provocative, or otherwise caught my eye from the Science Artists Feed. Sit back, have a coffee and enjoy.

Thanks for the link!

This is slightly off-topic but still science/art related: today I stumbled on an artist that I'm finding really interesting and I think you might too - Alexis Rockman. Maybe you're already familiar with his work? He seems to be fairly well known but I'd never heard of him till now.

Thanks SLW-L! I'm not familiar with his work. But I'll see if there's a way to add his site to the feed.

Very cool oils. Rhode Island School of Design has so many amazing alumni.

Thanks again!

Great links! I especially like the The Rings of Time. I have a similar idea written out on my projects list which I will now abandon since this blows my idea out of the water! Fantastic!

Do yours anyway! Things change in the execution, it could be just as fascinating.

Posts over 14 days old have their comments held in moderation - I've been getting an unusual amount of spam for a guy who paints trilobites. I'll release it lickety-split though.
